News in the Field of Auditing

On October 4, 2024, the Act Amending the Auditing Act (ZRev-2C) was published in the Official Gazette. It will come into effect on the fifteenth day after its publication. This Act transposes the provisions of the CSRD Directive into Slovenian law. It defines the business of providing sustainability assurance and the content of the auditor's report. The law also sets the conditions that auditors and audit firms must meet to obtain a license to provide sustainability assurance services. Issued licenses will be recorded in the register of audit firms and certified auditors maintained by the Agency for Public Oversight over Auditing.

Additionally, the conditions for obtaining a license as a certified auditor are being simplified. Under the new regulations, a first-level degree will be sufficient (previously, a second-level degree was required), along with three years of practical training (previously five years of experience in an audit firm was required). Persons who began their education before January 1, 2024, can complete the program under the current enrollment conditions, but no later than January 1, 2028.
